Berry vs Perisclaw: a Mac workspace or a WhatsApp-led assistant?
By the Berry team ·
The short answer
Perisclaw markets a WhatsApp-led executive assistant with connected-app actions and longer-running work. Berry's current pilot is a Mac commitment workspace with source context and limited, channel-specific actions. If autonomous multi-step execution is your requirement today, do not choose Berry on the strength of its roadmap.

Where the products overlap
Both products speak to people whose work is scattered across conversations. Perisclaw's official materials describe tracking commitments and follow-ups, alongside reminders, scheduling messages and longer-running work. Its positioning is not just answering questions in a chatbot.
Berry also focuses on asks, promises and follow-ups, but the shipped pilot has a deliberately narrower action boundary. Its value needs to stand on finding the right commitment and preserving its context—not on claiming that all the work is already automated.
Compare one complete action, not the feature labels
Use an example such as confirming a revised client deadline. Ask what the assistant can read, what it proposes, where you approve it, which account sends it, and what evidence shows the action succeeded. Check what happens if the customer changes the deadline before you approve.
In Berry, a Slack reply is shown for approval before posting. A Gmail response is a draft you send yourself. A WhatsApp action opens the chat for you to send. Marking an item done and sending a message are not interchangeable, and Undo in Berry cannot unsend a message.
Device and setup are buying criteria
Berry needs a Mac on macOS 14+ and a signed-in Claude Code or Codex account. The optional WhatsApp reader needs WhatsApp Desktop and Full Disk Access. That is a real setup requirement, not something to hide after a signup.
Perisclaw's official partner page describes an assistant accessed through WhatsApp and connected apps. Check its current device support, integration access and action permissions directly. Choose around where you actually review work, rather than assuming all assistants have the same interaction model.
Who should consider each?
Berry is a candidate for a founder or solopreneur who wants an inspectable daily commitment list on their Mac and is comfortable reviewing actions. It is not currently a replacement for an autonomous operator, a team helpdesk, or a shared sales pipeline.
Perisclaw is worth evaluating if chat-led delegation and longer-running connected work are central requirements. This page is written by Berry, based on public product information—not an independent performance benchmark. Test the workflow you intend to delegate before trusting either assistant with consequential actions.
